Fall was in the air, and the leaves had begun falling off the trees. Winter was just around the corner, which concerned the ants as they knew it was time to start preparing for the cold season. Brown leaves were everywhere, and it was the job of the worker ants to store food for the winter. Artie was responsible for collecting the leaves and clearing a pathway to the food storage. As Artie was in the backyard clearing away the leaves, he was joined by Sam-Antha, who came by to see how the leaf removal was going. Sam-Antha was surprised to see so many leaves that needed to be moved that she promised to help Artie the next morning. Artie was delighted and thanked Sam-Antha for her assistance.
The next morning as Artie arose, he began the process of clearing the leaves, which he did by himself for two hours before Sam-Antha showed up. Sam-Antha had overslept and promised that she would be early the following morning.
The following day came, and Artie again found himself working alone as Sam-Antha never showed up to help. Over the next two days, Artie toiled by himself as Sam-Antha had more excuses for why she was unavailable.
The sixth day had come, and Artie was tired from working all day and all week, moving leaves one by one. As the day came to an end, Sam-Antha came by once again and promised Artie that even if it rained, he could count on her help tomorrow. With a smile, Artie said, Thanks, but this is the last leaf I have to move. Tomorrow I’m off. Perhaps you can help Lexi and the others store the food tomorrow. As Artie walked away with the leaf over his head, Lexi looked at Sam-Antha and said, “If you wait on people, you will accomplish nothing.”
Moral of the story
You will never achieve any goal, waiting for others. Take action and make things happen! Your future depends on your actions.
